Clinton County Sheriff Deputies Respond to Man With Gun Overnight

At approximately 1:07 a.m. Thursday, Deputies were dispatched to the Good to Go gas station at State Road 28 and I-65 for a report of a man with a gun.

Dispatch was advised that a man outside the store in a black Dodge Ram pickup truck was asking customers to use their phones. One customer allowed the use of his phone, and when the individual asked for the phone back, the male in the truck displayed a handgun.

Deputies arrived on scene and gave verbal commands for the occupant to exit the truck. A short time later the windows of the vehicle descended and a single gunshot was heard by deputies.

Officers with the Frankfort Police Department arrived shortly thereafter and deployed a small drone to assist units on scene with safely gathering information and a closer view of the scene. The officers were then able to move in on the vehicle and determine the male appeared to have a single, self inflicted gunshot wound. The male was pronounced dead at the scene. The male’s identity is being withheld at this time to notify next of kin.

The scene was secured and our investigators contacted the Indiana State Police CSI.
