The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has expanded the Flood Watch to include portions of central Indiana and west central Indiana, including the following areas in central Indiana, including Clinton County, through Wednesday morning.
Besides Clinton, other affected areas are Boone, Howard and Tipton in east Central Indiana. In west central Indiana, areas now affected include Fountain, Montgomery, Parke and Vermillion.
Periods of moderate to heavy rain are expected across the area today and tonight. This rain will cause flooding of some area rivers and may cause flooding of streams and low lying areas. A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
Isolated thunderstorms are possible Tuesday with localized flooding possible. Winds are also expected to gust to 35 mph any time today and tonight. Periods of showers with embedded thunderstorms will impact the region today and tonight as a cold front moves into central Indiana. The rain could be heavy at times with an additional 2 to 5 inches possible in spots by late this weekend. Lowland flooding is expected with the possibility of the development of significant river flooding later this week as well.
