Clinton County Under Wind Advisory on Thursday

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Wind Advisory for portions of central, east central, north central, south central, southwest and west central Indiana, including Clinton County, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.

Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph are expected.

Besides Clinton, other affected areas include Boone, Brown, Carroll, Clay, Daviess, Delaware, Fountain, Greene, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Henry, Howard, Knox, Madison, Marion, Martin, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Randolph, Shelby, Sullivan, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Vermillion, Vigo and Warren.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured outdoor objects such as holiday decorations. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Also, afternoon relative humidity values will drop to around 25 to 35 percent. This will lead to an elevated fire risk. Outdoor burning is not recommended as fires could quickly get out of control with the combination of strong winds and low humidity.

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Outdoor objects should be secured.
