The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Winter Storm Warning for portions of central, north central and west central Indiana, including Clinton County, from 7 p.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Besides Clinton, other affected areas include Carroll, Fountain, Howard, Montgomery, Parke, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Vermillion, Vigo and Warren and includes the cities of Frankfort, Attica, Covington, Crawfordsville, Delphi, Flora, Kokomo, Lafayette, Newport, Rockville, Terre Haute, Tipton, Veedersburg, West Lafayette, West Lebanon and Williamsport.
Heavy snow is expected with total snow accumulations of 8 to 11 inches. Travel will be very difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact Monday evening commute. Blowing snow will lead to higher drifts of snow.
Snowfall tonight will amount to around 2 inches with the heaviest snow falling from 4 p.m. to midnight Monday. Snowfall rates in excess of an inch an hour at times with locally heavier periods.
Another round of winter precipitation is possible Wednesday night into Thursday, which could lead to additional travel difficulties, Below zero wind chills will continue at times into next weekend. Ice jams may be possible on a few area rivers.
