The Clinton Prairie baseball team won the Semi-State semifinal against Fort Wayne Canterbury 17-5 before falling to No. 1 Kouts 5-0 in the Semi-State Championship game.
The Gophers started the day strong, putting up a seven-spot in the second inning against the Cavaliers and running away with a 17-5 win.
Jackson Price had four hits and five RBIs while Kye Jacobs collected four hits, including a double.
Overall, Clinton Prairie scored 17 runs on 17 hits and drew seven walks.
In game two against Kouts, the Gophers couldn’t find the same offensive firepower. Kouts’ Billy Miller threw a complete game, striking out 12.
Clinton Prairie finishes the season 22-8 and will return six of the 10 starters against Kouts. The Gophers put together their longest post-season run in program history, making it to the Semi-State Championship game.
