Katie Blacker scored 12 points and Tynlie Neal added 11 as Clinton Prairie opened the season with a 65-16 victory over Fountain Central Thursday night in Veedersburg.
Prairie jumped out to a 14-3 lead after one quarter and increased it to 40-8 by halftime. The Gophers were also able to force 40 turnovers.
Rebekah Lloyd had eight points for Prairie, while Emma McKinney, Kylie Maish and Hannah Wilson all scored seven points. Blacker had six steals and Wilson added five steals. Neal and Haley Padgett led the team in rebounds with five while Neal led in assists with four.
In the JV contest, Kaitlyn Beck had 14 points and Tatum Nash added 11 as Clinton Prairie defeated Fountain Central 40-30. Beck led the team with eight steals and Clairie Ecenbarger had nine points and three steals.
Frankfort Drops Opener
Carroll outscored Frankfort 18-4 in the third quarter en route to a 33-19 season-opening victory over the Hot Dogs Wednesday night in Frankfort.
Payton Dubree played well on both ends of the floor for Frankfort, according to head coach Joe Marsh.
In the junior varsity contest, Zoey Westerman had 11 points and Madyson Cook added eight as Frankfort defeated Carroll 33-16.
Rossville Falls to Seeger
Seeger outscored Rossville 32-12 in the second half on its way to a 40-21 victory over Rossville in the Hornets’ season-opener Tuesday night in Seeger.
Rossville led 9-8 at halftime.
Sammie Malson and Michelle Rodkey led Rossville in scoring with six points each. Rodkey had a team-high nine rebounds and Malson added eight caroms. Rodkey also had three steals, two assists and two blocks.
