Clinton Prairie Elementary is celebrating an outstanding achievement by its third-grade students after 95.6% of students passed the 2026 IREAD-3 assessment, earning the school the highest pass rate in Clinton County.
The school’s performance also significantly exceeded the Indiana statewide average of 88.7%.
The IREAD-3 assessment measures foundational reading skills and serves as an important milestone for Indiana third-grade students. Clinton Prairie’s 95.6% pass rate reflects the dedication of students, teachers, support staff and families working together to build strong literacy skills.
Strong Results Reflect Team Effort
Principal Luke Harlow said the school is extremely proud of the students and staff who contributed to the achievement.
“We are incredibly proud of our students and staff for this achievement,” Harlow said. “Reading proficiency is the foundation for future academic success, and these results demonstrate the impact of high-quality instruction, targeted support, and strong partnerships with families.”
The results are a reflection of the work that took place throughout the 2025-2026 school year, while also building upon literacy foundations established during students’ earlier elementary years.
Teachers in kindergarten through second grade play an important role in developing the essential reading skills students need as they progress through elementary school. By the time students reach third grade, those foundational skills become critical as they work toward reading proficiency.
Collaboration Supports Student Success
Clinton Prairie Elementary credited a broad team of educators and support personnel for helping students reach the impressive results.
Classroom teachers, interventionists, special education staff and instructional assistants worked together to provide individualized support and ensure students had the resources and instruction needed to become successful readers.
Families also played an important role by supporting literacy development outside the classroom and partnering with educators throughout the school year.
The school’s achievement demonstrates the impact of a comprehensive approach to literacy instruction, including quality classroom teaching, targeted interventions and support tailored to individual student needs.
