Story contributor Sherry Stowers,
At Clinton Prairie the Elementary students wanted to do something special for Leap Year, but frogs seemed to trite.
They decided to Leap into Service. Every child either wrote a note, colored a picture, or made an art project for someone special in our community. Some grade levels also collected gift items. They honored veterans from Indiana Veterans Home as well as active service men and women. (grades 4-6); Grades 2 and 3 made posters and signs for Frankfort, Colfax, and Mulberry first responders. police, sheriff, firefighters, EMS service and Dispatch. Pre-K, Developmental Pre-K, and Kindergarten honored Parkview Home, Aperion Care, Mulberry Lutheran Home, and Wesley Manor.
On Friday, an event was held to hand out Their ‘presents’ – representatives came from the various groups. Third grade recited a poem to First Responders and they were delighted to have a ‘thank you’ video from active service men in Iraq.
