The Clinton Prairie Lady Gophers basketball team bounced back from Saturday’s loss to Lafayette Central Catholic with a 62-42 victory over Western Tuesday night in Russiaville.
Leading 35-22 at halftime, Clinton Prairie, 3-1, broke the game open in the third period as it outscored Western 16-3 in the quarter for a 51-25 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Katie Blacker led Prairie with 14 points. Tynlie Neal had 12 points, while Hadley Wilson and Emma McKinney each had nine points. Hannah Wilson led the team in rebounds with six. Neal added five boards and team-high three assists.
In the JV contest, Prairie improved to 4-0 with a 41-34 victory over Western. Kaitlyn Beck led the Lady Gophers with 13 points and six rebounds. Rylee Ward added 10, while Sydney Swan had six rebounds in two quarters of action.
Saturday in Lafayette, Prairie fell to Central Catholic 45-40. Neal led CP with 14 points. Blacker was next with nine points and Rebekah Lloyd added eight points and a team-high 13 rebounds.Neal and Blacker each added eight rebounds.
The JV outscored Central Catholic in every quarter on its way to a 37-21 victory. Claire Ecenbarger scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Prairie. Beck added 13 points.
Frankfort Girls’ Swimming Opens Season
The Frankfort girls’ swimming team opened the season Thursday night with a meet against McCutcheon. Coach Will Robbins said the “meet went well for our first meet this season. We were able to shake out a lot of our nerves this meets.”
