The Association of Indiana Counties (AIC) and Financial Services Group, Inc. have named a local fourth grader as the National County Government Month essay contest winner for the AIC’s West Central District.

Cara Perlee’s essay was chosen over entries from other fourth graders across the district. Perlee, a student at Clinton Central Elementary, received $100 for winning the contest. One winner was chosen in each of the AIC’s six districts.

This year’s theme was “Celebrating Indiana Health Departments.” Essays were judged on how well students expressed their knowledge about Indiana Health Departments.

Perlee was awarded the prize on May 15th during the AIC West Central District Meeting in Putnam County. The meeting also included a synopsis of the 2025 Indiana Legislative Session by AIC legislative staff.
