Colfax Man Charged With Seven Separate Offenses

At approximately 2:29 a.m. Thursday, Clinton County Sheriff Deputies responded to a report of an armed subject who entered an occupied home in Colfax. The suspect allegedly threatened those in the home and then removed a female by force from the home.

The suspect then took her to a separate location, where he assaulted her. Following a short investigation, a Detective and Deputies with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office arrested Chris Rice, 51, of Colfax for the following offenses:

RAPE- LEVEL 1 FELONY – 1 COUNT

BURGLARY- LEVEL 2 FELONY – 1 COUNT

KIDNAPPING- LEVEL 3 FELONY – 1 COUNT

CONFINEMENT- LEVEL 3 FELONY – 2 COUNTS

BATTERY- LEVEL 5 FELONY – 2 COUNTS

STRANGULATION- LEVEL 6 FELONY – 1 COUNT

RESISTING LAW ENFORCEMENT- CLASS A MISDEMEANOR – 1 COUNT

Our Deputies answered the call to a violent and dangerous situation and worked feverishly until the suspect was in custody. Multiple agencies came together to investigate these heinous crimes and successfully apprehended the bad guy, without harm to anyone else. Well Done!” – Clinton County Sheriff Rich Kelly

Formal charges are pending from the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office.
