At approximately 2:29 a.m. Thursday, Clinton County Sheriff Deputies responded to a report of an armed subject who entered an occupied home in Colfax. The suspect allegedly threatened those in the home and then removed a female by force from the home.
The suspect then took her to a separate location, where he assaulted her. Following a short investigation, a Detective and Deputies with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office arrested Chris Rice, 51, of Colfax for the following offenses:
RAPE- LEVEL 1 FELONY – 1 COUNT
BURGLARY- LEVEL 2 FELONY – 1 COUNT
KIDNAPPING- LEVEL 3 FELONY – 1 COUNT
CONFINEMENT- LEVEL 3 FELONY – 2 COUNTS
BATTERY- LEVEL 5 FELONY – 2 COUNTS
STRANGULATION- LEVEL 6 FELONY – 1 COUNT
RESISTING LAW ENFORCEMENT- CLASS A MISDEMEANOR – 1 COUNT

Our Deputies answered the call to a violent and dangerous situation and worked feverishly until the suspect was in custody. Formal charges are pending from the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office.
