Colts General Manager Discusses Head Coaching Situation

Inside INdiana Business is reporting that Indianapolis Colts General Manager Chris Ballard says he didn’t want an explanation from Josh McDaniels on why he decided against taking the team’s head coaching job. During a news conference Wednesday morning at the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center in Indianapolis, Ballard said the team will “keep moving forward” after McDaniels went back on an agreement with the Colts. “We will get the right leader for the Indianapolis Colts,” Ballard added. The team, he says, will next turn attention to its remaining list of candidates.

Ballard would not detail a timeline for a final announcement. The position, previously held by Chuck Pagano, came open again after the Colts say New England Patriots Offensive Coordinator Josh McDaniels accepted an offer to run the team, then pulled out hours later. Ballard says there were no indications before Tuesday night that McDaniels would leave.

“There’s a lot of good coaches out there, a lot of good assistants out there,” Ballard said. “I believe you’ve got to be patient, take your time.”
