The Clinton County Commissioners on Monday approved the recommendation from American Structure Point to award the bid for the new EMA building at the Clinton County Fairgrounds to Boyle Construction for $1.25 million.
“Our engineering firm made the recommendation to have Boyle Construction do the new building for EMA,” said Commissioner Steve Woods. “We will expect to start probably right after the fair.”
The Clinton County and 4-H Fair runs July 7-15 at the Fairgrounds.
In addition, the Commissioners decided it was time to start looking for a spot for the new satellite EMA building in the county.
“We already have the money setting aside for a building that will be out in the north and west area of the county,” said Woods. “It’s a five-mile area to any location — Rossville, Mulberry or back up to Frankfort. We are looking at some farm sites there for a couple of acres and a substation to be put in.”
In a related item, the Commissioners agreed to purchase one more ambulance.
The Commissioners also agreed to have a conversation with the city and possibly do a feasibility study in regards to a possible overpass to built around the 200 West area. The Indiana Department of Transportation is funding 80 percent of this project. The county’s involvement would be contingent on a 50-50 split with the city on the remaining 20 percent of the project.
