Commissioners Reiterate Position on Wind Farms

In reaction to a story that was released by Responsible Harvest recently, Clinton County Commissioner Steve Woods felt it was time to set the record straight on wind farms in the county.

“We have not had any communication. I personally have had no communications about wind,” said Woods. “At this point, I’m willing to look at all information. But not at this time will I vote for any wind whatsoever. We have a moratorium set in place for a reason. The commissioners have not had any communications with any wind company at all.”

Woods took his point one step further.

“We’re making a pointed effort to go to 65 with infrastructure,” he said. “I think that is as important, or more important, than any wind can do. I think we can grow our assessment in this county that way. The most logical way until maybe later or things change in the wind, solar that make it worthwhile. At this point, it’s not.”

The Commissioners also took a step forward by authorizing some security measures in the courthouse.

“We made the decision this morning to go ahead and seek some bids on some card readers for the entrances we have here at the courthouse and eliminate three of the public entrances and trimming it down to one which will be on the south side of the courthouse,” said Clinton County Commissioners President Josh Uitts. “The remaining entrances would be used for employees and the sheriff’s department to bring in folks for court cases.”

Asked how soon he would like to see this happen, Uitts replied he would like to see this happen as soon as possible.

After tabling their decision two weeks ago, the Commissioners awarded the Community Crossings Grant to Central Paving of Logansport for their bid of $917,911.44 to pave County Road 100 North. Clinton County Highway Superintendent Kevin Myers said that hopefully can be done by August.

Myers also announced that the bridge at Mechanicsburg on State Road 39 will be closed July 8 until at least November for work. Those wanting to get to Lebanon will either have to take Interstate 65 or go through some of the country roads for detours.
