CANCELED! Community Day Saturday at Frankfort/Clinton County Airport

CANCELED: The Clinton County Chamber of Commerce has made the decision to CANCEL Community Day at the Frankfort/Clinton County Airport.  Several factors contributed to the decision to cancel the event, including:

  • PBY pilot contracted Covid
  • Weather forecast for Frankfort is not conducive to holding the event.
  • Parachute jumps are doubtful due to weather conditions.
  • Bounce houses cannot be deployed due to forecasted winds and weather conditions.
  • Safety considerations for all inbound pilots and aircraft.

The event will be rescheduled for later in the year, according to Clinton County Chamber CEO Shan Sheridan.  The most critical factor on the reschedule date will be the availability of the PBY aircraft, according to Sheridan.

Here is the prior event framework that is planned to be rescheduled:

CANCELED:  Booths, prizes, sky diving, bounce houses, fly-in with local and area aircraft, food venders, Free Pancake Breakfast, WWII PBY Plane, Helicopter Rides, flight simulator will contribute to the excitement of this family-friendly event.

CANCELED: The event kicks off at 7:30 a.m. Saturday with a Free Pancake Breakfast from 7:30 to 10:30.   Area pilots have heard about this event.  Expect a variety of privately owned aircraft to fly into the Frankfort/Clinton County Regional airport during the event to be a part of it.  On hand will be a PBY aircraft “flying boat” made famous by local hero Adrian Marks.  You can see the aircraft he used to save the lives of over 50 seamen after the sinking of the USS Indianapolis July 30th, 1945.

CANCELED: Sky Divers from locally based Sky Dive Indy will adorn the skies with colorful chutes as trained jumpers descend from 10,000 to 12,000 feet to land just a few hundred feet west of the Terminal Building at the airport.  WILO Station Manager Cindy Loveless will broadcast live from the airport from 10:00 AM to Noon on WILO 96.9 FM, 102.7 FM (Lebanon) and 1570 AM presented by the Clinton County Chamber of Commerce.

CANCELED: The city of Frankfort will display a fire truck for the kids with bounce houses available to add to the fun.  Touch a truck. Touch an airplane.  It’s all a part of the fun at Community Day Saturday July 15 from 7:30 to 2 PM at the Frankfort/Clinton County Airport.

CANCELED:  Food venders include Frankfort’s own Slabby’s Food & Freedom.
