Community Events

The following is a list of community events going on in Frankfort and all of Clinton County:

 

The Clinton County Small Business Networking event is at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hoops. Frankfort Police Chief Troy Bacon will be the speaker. Due to other commitments, Mayor Chris McBarnes will not be able to attend this month. However, we are looking forward to hearing from him at the monthly meeting in February.

 

Community members are invited to follow the Frankfort Police Department on Twitter@FrankfortPD and the department Facebook page on Thursday, January 11, from 5-8 p.m. for a virtual ride-along. Police Chief Troy Bacon says this is a unique opportunity for us to share real time information as it occurs with the residents they serve.

 

The Clinton County Youth Theatre is proud to present ‘The Adventures of Stuart Little’ as their winter play. Performances will take place in the Skanta Theatre on January 11, 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Jan. 13. Tickets are available now at the Frankfort Community Public Library for $6 each. Doors open a half hour before the show begins. Seats are not assigned upon ticket purchase. The Clinton County Youth Theatre is a program where children and young adults from ages 8-18 come together to put on a show twice a year for the community. The Russiaville Youth Baseball Signups is taking place. Players, ages 4-12, may be registered at rybl.org now through Jan. 31. Walk-in registrations will also be held on Jan. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Russiaville Lions Club. Tryouts will be Feb. 3 at the Western Fieldhouse. The 12U League will be playing 50/70 distances this season with leadoffs. Come join RYBL to play in the enhanced competition of 50/70. Players from Clinton County are welcome. The Colfax Historical Society needs your help. We hope you will consider donating to this newly formed organization to make the purchase of the historic Rosenberger Building a reality. Charter lifetime memberships start at $100 per individual and annual memberships start at $15. No donation is too large or small to help us reach our goal. The Clinton County Chamber of Commerce will have its 2018 State of the Chamber Awards program at noon in Arborwood on Thursday, January 25. The Winter Olympics is the theme. You can nominate the Agribusiness of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Large Business of the Year, Human Resource Person of the Year, Not for Profit of the Year, Employee of the Year and Volunteer of the Year. The Big Swing Band from Lafayette will knock your socks off with their classic swing music from the 1930s & 40s when they will perform on Saturday, January 20, at 7 p.m. in the Skanta Theatre at the Frankfort Community Public Library. Tickets are now available for $10 and may be purchased at the circulation desk of the Frankfort Library or over the phone with a credit card. Want to see the show for free? The concert series is is need of two volunteers for the night of the concert. Each volunteer will receive a free ticket to see The Big Swing Band. The Friends of the Rossville Library is having its Winter Book Sale at the library located at 400 W. Main St., in Rossville from Thursday, Jan. 18 through Saturday, Jan. 27. Gently used books, magazines and movies will be available during library hours for a cash donation. Dates and times for the sale are as follows: Thursday, Jan. 18 (1-7 p.m.); Friday, Jan. 19 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.); Saturday, Jan. 20 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.); Monday, Jan. 22 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.); Tuesday, Jan. 23 (1-7 p.m.); Wednesday, Jan. 24 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.); Thursday, Jan. 25 (1-7 p.m.); Friday, Jan. 26 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Saturday, Jan. 27 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.).
