The following is a list of community events going on in Frankfort and all of Clinton County:
The Community Schools of Frankfort announces its Kindergarten Registration will be held on Tuesday, April 3. Three times will be offered throughout the day at your home school (Blue Ridge Primary or Suncrest Elementary). Morning session is 8:30-10 a.m.; afternoon session is noon to 2 p.m.; and evening session is 5-7 p.m. Individuals needs to bring their child, birth certificate, record of immunizations and proof of residency.
Clinton Central Elementary is preparing for its annual Early Kindergarten and Kindergarten Roundup. Students who will be age 4 by August 1 are eligible to enroll in Early Kindergarten program on April 3. Students who will be age 5 by August 1 are eligible to enroll in Kindergarten on April 5. Please call the school office at 249-2244 to schedule an appointment for Round Up Day. Please allow 20 minutes for your appointment when you come. A birth certificate and immunization record will be required that day. Appointments will be scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. and 3:30-6 p.m.
Clinton Prairie Elementary will be holding a meeting for parents and prospective kindergarten students on Tuesday, April 10, at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. Prospective kindergarten students must be 5 years of age on or before August 1. Kindergarten screening will be held Tuesday, April 17, by appointment. The Colfax Historical Society needs your help. We hope you will consider donating to this newly formed organization to make the purchase of the historic Rosenberger Building a reality. The AARP Tax Aide Program is offering free assistance for low to moderate income and elderly. Most return are electronically filed and all volunteers assisting with taxes must pass a test to be certified preparers. Tax assistance at Wesley Manor is by appointment only. Call 656-2111 to schedule and appointment between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tax counselors will be available for appointments each Wednesday and Thursday during February. Beginning in March, appointments will be on Wednesdays only through April 11. Beginning March 1, tax assistance will be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays only and continuing through April 12 at the Frankfort Neighborhood Center. No appointment is needed.
The Clinton County Family YMCA is having a grand opening and ribbon cutting of the new Youth Room on Monday, February 12, from 4-6 p.m. at the YMCA, 950 S. Maish Rd. Ribbon cutting is set for 4 p.m.
Anoka United Methodist Church, 300 South at Highway 35, south of Logansport, is having a Fat Tuesday Pancake and Sausage Supper from 4:30-7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13. This event will benefit the Bashor Children’s Home.
Wesley Manor invites all residents of Clinton County, their family and the public to join them for their Sweetheart Candlelight Dinner on Friday, February 16. The Frankfort Community Public Library has been awarded a Community Read grant of $1,000 from Indiana Humanities to participate in a statewide read of the classic novel ‘Frankenstein.’ More than 60 other communities will be reading the book as part of ‘One State/One Story: Frankenstein.’ Frankfort Community Public Library will host at least three community programs tied to the book during 2018, including a book discussion.’One State/One Story: Frankenstein kicks off Saturday, February 17, from 1-3 p.m. with the Monster Bash, which is a party open to all ages and will feature several stations. Attendees may pick up a copy of ‘Frankenstein’ sign up for future activities.
The inaugural Frankfort Alumni Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, in the Frankfort High School Auditorium. There will also be a presentation prior to the start of the varsity boys’ basketball game that evening Case Arena. A reception will be held in the hallway outside the auditorium following the induction ceremony.
Clinton County Democratic Chairman Mark Newhart has announced the U.S. House 4th District Democratic Forum has been rescheduled for Monday, February 19, at the Clinton Prairie High School Auditorium. The event will start at 6 p.m. with a meet and greet. The actual forum will run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Questions for candidates can be sent in advance to [email protected]. Those interested in attending need to enter Door 15 in back of the school.
The Clinton County GOP Lincoln Day Dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, at the 4-H Building on the Clinton County Fairgrounds. Guest speaker will be Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson. Tickets are $25.
Clinton Prairie High School will be inducting four new members into its Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, February 23. The induction ceremony will take place at halftime of the varsity basketball game between the Gophers and Western Boone.
Zonta Club of Frankfort is having its 25th Annual Chicken Noodle Supper and Country Store on Saturday, March 3, from 4:30-7 p.m. at the 4-H Building on the Clinton County Fairgrounds. Tickets are $9 for adults, children age 4-12 are $5 and those under are free.
Healthy Communities of Clinton County Coalition is partnering with the Clinton County Fair Council and Buck Up Foundation (Brayton Cooper’s Family) to hold the First Annual Stepping on Stigma Mental Health Awareness 5K Run/Walk at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, at the Clinton County Fairgrounds. Isaac Rudd will also be doing a benefit concert for the Buck Up Foundation at this free event.
The Living Stone Church in Rossville is sponsoring a Backpack Dash 5K Run/Walk will be held Saturday, May 12, at 8 a.m. in the Bennett Room, 50 E. North St., Rossville. Cost is $20 for adults, child is $15 prior to May 1. Group discounts of $5 per registration for four or more registering together using the promo code 4theKids. The TPA Park Youth Trout Tournament will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 17 at the Golf Course Pond in TPA Park. There are four different age categories for youths up to age 16.
