The Red Barn Summer Theatre kicks off its 50th season with its first show of the season entitled, “No Sex Please, We’re British.” The show will run June 20-24. Other shows and dates are “Lost in Yonkers” on June 27 through July 1 and July 5-8; and “Tarzan, The Musical” on July 12-15 and July 17-22. The Frankfort Parks Department has announced that the movie “Lego Ninjago” has been rescheduled to Tuesday, July 17. It was scheduled to be held Friday, June 22 but was postponed due to bad weather. This was the first of four movies to be shown this year. Other movies and dates are: “Coco” on Friday, July 27; “Despicable Me 3” on Friday, August 24; and “Paddington 2” on Friday, September 14. The Clinton County Family YMCA, Frankfort Parks Department and the Frankfort Center Township Trustee are partnering together to bring community children free swim safety lessons on June 25, 26 and 27. Two time slots are available to choose from (9-9:45 a.m. or 10-10:45 a.m.), Sign up at the YMCA. Choose one time slot and come all three days. For more information, contact the YMCA at 654-9622.

 

The Clinton County Relay for Life Celebration will be held Saturday, June 30 at Frankfort High School in the small gymnasium. This is the 20th anniversary of this event. Participants, volunteers and cheerful, loving advocates are needed. Join the Relay for Life Team to honor those 20-year survivors. Registration is at 10 a.m., balloon release at 11:15 a.m., survivors’ walk is 11:20-12:30; survivors’ luncheon is 11:30 a.m. Everyone is free to walk from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Luminaries is set for 1:15 p.m. Luncheon guest speaker is Kim Dunn. A Cruise-In to benefit the Jacob Pickett Family will be held Saturday, June 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mo’s Vintiques, 319 W. Main St., two blocks west of the square, in Lebanon. The Walton Community Fire Department is having a Fourth of July Car Show & Fish Fry. Cars, trucks, motorcycles and anything in-between are all welcome. Parade lineup at noon, parade begins at 2 p.m., registration is 4-6 p.m. and awards is 8:30 p.m. Free fireworks show will be at dark. The Annual Flora First Christian Gospel Fest will be held on July 4 at the Flora Community Park starting at 6 p.m. Come enjoy contemporary Christian music and then stay for the fireworks. This year’s lineup includes Malachi Jaggers, Spirit Move Worship, Jordan Bennett Band, Chaylyn Thompson and Kris Seward. The Flora Community Park is located just off of State Road 18 on the east side of Flora.

 

The Frankfort Camp Ministries Family Camp will be held July 8-15 at 1058 W. Freeman St., Frankfort. There will be an ice cream social on July 8 following the evening service and a carnival is set for July 14 at 12:30 p.m. Main speakers are Rev. Mark Murphy and Dr. Mark Wilson. The INSpace Camp will be held July 23-27 at the Frankfort Municipal Airport from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily for students ages 8-14. 2018 kicks off their newest adventure called Mars Next! The camp will have airplane rides, rocketry, cool projects, special guests, launch to edge of space, prizes and a drone demonstration. Cost is $275 per person. The Frankfort Community Public Library is holding an Ancestry Lock-in, which will be located in the Earl J. Culver Genealogy Area on Friday, July 27, from 5-9 p.m. The cost for the lock-in is $2 and normal printing fees will be waived. Participants may bring supper or a snack to eat in Harry’s Coffee Bar when they need to take a break. A free Nature Trail Walk will be held on Saturday, July 28 at 8 a.m. at Camp Cullom, 6815 W. County Road 200 North, Frankfort. Join naturalist Jeff Swackhammer on a guided 1-mile moderate trail walk starting at the Camp Cullom lodge. Hiking shoes and binoculars are recommended. The Central Indiana DNA Interest Group (CIDIG) will be presenting a workshop entitled ‘Adding DNA Testing to Your Genealogy Toolkit’ at the Frankfort Community Public Library on Saturday, August 4, from 12:30-4:30 p.m. in Room 219.
