The Purdue Extension Office is hosting a program for incoming high school freshmen and sophomores designed to help them prepare for their education after high school. The program will be held July 16 and 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; July 18 and 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and July 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All programs will be held at the Extension Office located at 1111 S. The Michigantown Lions Club Summertime Breakfast will be held Saturday, July 21, from 7-10 a.m. at the Lions/Alumni Building. The authors of “Indianapolis — The True Story of the Worst Sea Disaster in U.S. History and the Fifty-Year Fight to Exonerate an Innocent Man,” Lynn Vincent and Sara Vladic, will gave a presentation at the Frankfort Community Public Library on Monday, July 23, at 6 p.m. The first 10 guests in attendance will receive a free copy of the book, courtesy of the Friends of the Frankfort Library. The INSpace Camp will be held July 23-27 at the Frankfort Municipal Airport from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily for students ages 8-14. 2018 kicks off their newest adventure called Mars Next! The camp will have airplane rides, rocketry, cool projects, special guests, launch to edge of space, prizes and a drone demonstration. Cost is $275 per person. Former Crawfordsville woman and current Frankfort resident Suzanne Spicer is planning an Ataxia Awareness Walk on Friday, July 27, at the Frankfort Hot Dog Festival, at 4:30 p.m. Interested individuals should meet at her booth. She will have another walk at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Hot Dog Festival.Ataxia is a condition where a person lacks muscle control during voluntary movements, such as picking up objects or walking. The Frankfort Community Public Library is holding an Ancestry Lock-in, which will be located in the Earl J. Culver Genealogy Area on Friday, July 27, from 5-9 p.m. The cost for the lock-in is $2 and normal printing fees will be waived. Participants may bring supper or a snack to eat in Harry’s Coffee Bar when they need to take a break. Library closes at 5 p.m. and participants should arrive before that time. Dane Bailey, the Singing Auctioneer, will be at the Burlington Community Park Building on Friday, August 3, at 7 p.m. for a benefit concert and auction. The Kokomo High School Class of 2008 10-Year Reunion will be held Saturday, August 25, from 6-9 p.m. at Kelley Agricultural Museum in Sharpsville. There will be food and drinks, music and catching up with old friends. Tickets are $25 per person and $40 for a pair.
