The City of Frankfort is having a ceremonial ground breaking of Prairie Creek Park on Wednesday, January 9 at noon. The ceremony will be at the project site, directly north of Nickel Plate Flats where you will see a large tent. After the ground breaking, the scene will shift to Old Stoney for a catered reception. The TPA Park Pool Feasibility Study Committee will hold a public meeting on Thursday, January 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Schools of Frankfort Administration Building. Findings from the feasibility study will be presented along with ideas on what to do with the pool. Public input will also be welcome. For more information, call the Parks Department at 659-3422.
St. Vincent and Witham Health Services will be having a family community day and open house from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, at the new facility at 2485 E. Wabash St., Frankfort, or right across the street from Walmart. Attendees will be able to meet providers, tour the new facility and enjoy refreshments and a giveaway. The Jobs for Life Initiative is now accepting applications for Jobs for Life students. Classes begin Tuesday, February 5, at 6:30 p.m., at the First Evangelical Church, 352 W. Clinton St., Frankfort. Classes will continue each Tuesday and Thursday nights through March 28. Applications can be picked up at the church or the Clinton County Chamber of Commerce. There is no charge. The Kokomo-Howard County Public Library is hosting the second international tour of Discover Space: A Cosmic Journey, from Monday, January 14 through Friday, March 29. The exhibit is free and to the public. On Thursday, January 24, an astronaut will Skype from space during the program.

The Frankfort Community Public Library announces the official kick-off of a brand new teen program series, Adulting 101. Teens are invited to learn useful life skills and participate in creative and fun projects. Teen mental health, suicide prevention and crisis intervention expert Jeff Yalden is coming to Clinton Prairie on Tuesday, January 22, at 6 p.m. in the Clinton Prairie Auditorium. His presentation will ignite positive change in our youth and community. There will be an evening parent and community session as well as raising teens in a digital world and the impact this has on their well-being. Yalden will give his theory on teen suicide and youth mental health.
Howard County Right to Life will be holding a memorial service on Sunday, January 27, to commemorate the anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade court decision. It will begin at 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 219 W. Mulberry St., Kokomo. The public is also invited to the first 2019 meeting of the Howard County Right to Life organization on Monday, January 28, at 7 p.m., at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S. Dixon Road, Kokomo.
