The Jobs for Life Initiative is now accepting applications for Jobs for Life students. Classes begin Tuesday, February 5, at 6:30 p.m., at the First Evangelical Church, 352 W. Clinton St., Frankfort. Classes will continue each Tuesday and Thursday nights through March 28. Applications can be picked up at the church or the Clinton County Chamber of Commerce. There is no charge. The Frankfort Community Public Library is is having Echoes — the art of Sabrina Zhou in the Anna & Harlan Hubbard Gallery at the library through January 30. Zhou lives in Carmel and teaches art classes from her home.

 

The Winter Book Sale at the Rossvile Library, 400 W. Main St., Rossville will be held through Saturday, January 26. Gently used books, magazines and movies will be available during library hours for a cash donation. Hours are 1-7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call 765-379-2246.

 

Due to weather concerns, Clinton Prairie is pushing back the visit of teen mental health, suicide prevention and crisis intervention expert Jeff Yalden to Thursday, January 31, at 6 p.m. in the Clinton Prairie Auditorium. His presentation will ignite positive change in our youth and community. There will be an evening parent and community session as well as raising teens in a digital world and the impact this has on their well-being. Yalden will give his theory on teen suicide and youth mental health.

 

Kantering Kids 4-H Horse and Pony Club Annual Tack Sale, Chili Supper and Silent Auction will be held on Saturday, January 26, at the Tipton County Fairgrounds located south of Tipton on State Road 19. Doors open at 3 p.m. Sale starts at 4 p.m. All proceeds go to Kantering Kids Horse and Pony Club. Howard County Right to Life will be holding a memorial service on Sunday, January 27, to commemorate the anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade court decision. It will begin at 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 219 W. Mulberry St., Kokomo. The public is also invited to the first 2019 meeting of the Howard County Right to Life organization on Monday, January 28, at 7 p.m., at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S. Dixon Road, Kokomo.

 

The Spark Club for Beginner Cake Decorating will be held on Mondays (January 28, February 4 and February 11) from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Room 101 of the Howard County Government Building. Faith Family Church will be hosting the No Regret’s Men’s Conference on Saturday, February 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 508 West Green Street in Frankfort. Faith Family will be one of over 100 host sites around North America hosting the conference streaming in high definition from Elmbrook Church in Wisconsin. Shine On University Day Services and school aged after care and programming is coming to Clinton County on Monday, February 11, from 6:30-8 p.m. in the downstairs meeting room of the Frankfort Community Public Library, 208 W. Clinton St. If you have a loved one receiving the Medicaid waiver and are looking for day services or school aged after care and summer programming, don’t miss this meeting. Executive Director Tammy Frost will be here to share the projected opening date, location, hours of operation, transportation options and answer any questions you may have. Zonta’s 26th Annual Chicken Noodle Supper and Country Store will be held Saturday, March 2, from 4:30-7 p.m. in the 4-H Building at the Clinton County Fairgrounds. Tickets are $9 for adults, children age 4-12 is $5 and those under age 3 are free.

 

Clinton Prairie Elementary will be holding a meeting for parents of kindergarten students on Monday, April 8, at 6 p.m. This meeting is for parents only. Prospective kindergarten students must be 5 years of age on or before August 1, 2019.
