The Victory Chapel at 196 Lewis Smith Road in Frankfort is a having a Revival through March 17. The St. Mary’s Catholic Church Annual Knights of Columbus Lenten Fish Fry will be every Friday during Lent until April 19 from 4:30-7 at Muller Hall, 600 St. Mary’s Ave., Frankfort. The public is welcome and carry out is available. Cost is $10 for adults and kids 12 and under are $5. Menu consists of Alaskan Pollock Fish (second available), baked potato or fries, slaw, dinner roll and dessert. The American Red Cross is holding a blood drive at the following locations in March: Thursday, March 21 — First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 352 W. Clinton St., Frankfort, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Individuals of all blood types — especially type O — are asked to make an appointment to donate blood or platelets by visiting RedCrossBlood.org or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

 

The AARP Tax Aide program is offering free assistance for low to moderate income and elderly taxpayers. Most returns are e-filed and all volunteers assisting with taxes are certified preparers. Tax assistance is available in Harmony Hall at Wesley Manor each Wednesday through April 10 by appointment. Call 656-2111 to schedule an appointment between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tax assistance is also available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays and continuing through April 11 at the Frankfort Neighborhood Center.

 

The following events are coming up at the Delphi Opera House: Friday, March 15 — April Verch Band; Thursday, March 21 — French Horn and Piano Recital Featuring Technical Sergeant Gerald L. Welker. Principal Horn with the United States Air Force Academy Band; Saturday, April 6 — Josh Howard, Kevin Hathaway and Al Rossi play Classic Rock from five decades specializing in harmony vocals. The Rossville First Financial Bank located at 358 W. Main St., Rossville will host a pet event Monday, March 11 through Friday, March 15 during normal business hours. This donation drive will benefit the Loving Heart Animal Shelter and the many animals that can use the support. Donations needed include Science Diet dog and cat food, cat litter, office supplies, cleaning supplies and any other pet necessities.

Harry’s Music Down Under returns on Thursday, March 14, at 6:30 p.m. with local artist Mike Flowers. This event will take place in Harry’s Coffee Bar, located in the lower level of the Frankfort Community Public Library. .The event is free, but donations to the artist are appreciated. The coffee bar will be open. Flowers performs a variety of folk and country music on his guitar. He lives in Colfax where he is a pastor.

 

A Free Will Donation Breakfast will be held on Saturday, March 16, from 6:30-10:30 a.m. at the Michigan Township Volunteer Fire Department in Michigantown. Menu will consist of biscuits and sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, pancakes, orange juice, coffee and white milk.

 

An Oven Steak Dinner will be held on Saturday, March 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South Side Christian Church, 201 E. Markland Ave., Kokomo. This will also include a silent auction. The Sheridan First Christian Church will hold its annual Spring Smorgasbord on Saturday, March 16, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Located at 107 W. Third St., the menu includes chicken pot pie with gravy, baked ham, meat lasagna, fresh salads and vegetables, homemade butterhorn rolls and delicious desserts. A freewill offering will be collected that benefits local missions. The church is handicap accessible.

 

The Kokomo Amateur Radio Club and Howard County Department of Emergency Management will be hosting the annual Skywarn Severe Weather Seminar. If you desire to learn how to assist and participate in severe weather spotting, then this training session is for you. The seminar will be presented by the National Weather Service on Saturday, March 16, at 9 a.m. at Kokomo High School, 2501 S. Berkley Road, Kokomo. Please enter through the main entrance located on the south side of the building facing Lincoln Road. This seminar is free for all ages. The Haan Museum in Lafayette will be holding ‘A Day at the Fair’ on Saturday, March 23. They will celebrating the 115th anniversary of the St. Louis World’s Fair. There will be three different events: 10 a.m. to noon: Fair Food, Music and More; 1-4 p.m.: Tours of the Haan Museum; and 6:30-8 p.m.: World’s Fair Guest Speaker Mike Truax. Each event is $10. The Frankfort Community Public Library announces the next Teen Lock-In which will feature an evening of gaming and snacks. Join the Library for a night of video, board, and role-play gaming. The Gaming Lock-In will be at the Library on Saturday, March 23, from 5-8 p.m. Check-in for the event will take at the Edge, the Library’s Teen Department. Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to attend and join the gaming fun. All attendees must present a permission slip signed by parent or guardian. This is a free event and registration is preferred. The Community Schools of Frankfort Kindergarten Registration will be held on Tuesday, April 2. Three times will be offered throughout the day at Blue Ridge Primary or Suncrest Elementary. Morning session is 8:30-10 a.m., afternoon session is noon to 2 p.m., and evening session is 5-7 p.m. Those attending should bring your child, birth certificate, record of immunizations and proof of residency which can be rental agreement, lease, mortgage, deed or purchase agreement or a current utility bill that includes the property address and the parent’s name.

 

Clinton Central Elementary is preparing for its Early Kindergarten and Kindergarten Round-Up. Students who will be 4 by August 1, 2019, are eligible to enroll in the Early Kindergarten Program on April 2. The Early Kindergarten fee scheduled will be available at round-up. Students who will be 5 by August 1, 2019, are eligible to enroll in Kindergarten on April 4. Call the school office at 765-249-2244 to schedule an appointment for round-up day.

 

Clinton Prairie Elementary will be holding a meeting for parents of kindergarten students on Monday, April 8, at 6 p.m. This meeting is for parents only. Prospective kindergarten students must be 5 years of age on or before August 1, 2019. Russiaville Community Outreach is sponsoring the Russiaville Health and Information Fair on Wednesday, April 10, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Jeff Stout Community Center. There are a total of 17 vendors that have signed up so far. There will also be an opportunity to sign up for some fun classes such as basket making, quilting, wood carving, iPhone set up and usage and basic computer/internet usage. Union Baptist Church, located at 8280 E. County Road 800 North, Forest, is having a Lasagna Supper on Saturday, April 13, from 5-7 p.m. Menu includes lasagna, salad, garlic bread, dessert and drink. Frankfort High School Auxiliary gymnasium is the site for the Third Annual Walk-A-Mile for Autism on Saturday, April 13, from 1-3 p.m. There is no cost for the event. First Evangelical Presbyterian Church Easter Services at 352 W. Clinton St. Maunday Thursday service is April 18 at 7 p.m. with communion. Sunrise Easter service is April 21 at 7 a.m. at TPA Park. Easter Services is April 21 at 9 and 11 a.m. at FEPC with breakfast served in between.

The Send Silence Packing exhibit will be at the Clinton County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This exhibit has traveled the country for more than a decade to end the silence that surrounds mental health and suicide and connect visitors with resources for support and action.
