First Evangelical Presbyterian Church at 352 W. Clinton St., Frankfort is having an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, May 16, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those who want to give blood can visit RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment.

 

Harry’s Coffee Bar in the Frankfort Community Public Library (FCPL) is having “Music Down Under” on Thursday, May 16, at 6:30 p.m. Myron Chezem will perform a set of music from the 1960s in Harry’s, which is located in the lower level of FCPL. The event is free and open to the public, but donations to the artist are appreciated. For more information, call 654-8746.

 

A Benefit for Rob Bales, the Frankfort Police officer with ALS, will be held Friday, May 17 from 6-11 p.m., at the Frankfort American Legion. A free will donation will be taken and all proceeds will go Rob for his future needs. There will be food and raffles. The Jason Wells Band will be the entertainment for the night. This event is sponsored by the Frankfort Senior High School Class of 1981.

 

The Frankfort Community Public Library is holding an Ancestry Lock-in, which will be located in the Earl Culver Genealogy Area on Friday, May 17, from 5-9 p.m. The public computers will be available for use, or researchers may bring their own laptops and connect to the Wi-Fi. The cost for the lock-in is $2. Normal printing fees will be waived. The library closes at 5 p.m. and participants should arrive before that time. The Frankfort/Clinton County Airport Authority and First Wing Jet Center is having a community grand opening celebration and open house on Saturday, May 18, from 7-11 a.m. at the Frankfort/Clinton County Municipal Airport. The new 12,000 square foot state-of-the-art aircraft terminal and hangar will be unveiled. Other activities include a biscuits and gravy breakfast ($10 per person), aircraft on display, tours of the new terminal, bounce houses and more.

 

Paw Pals is having its 19th Annual Wag-a-Thon to benefit the Humane Society on Saturday, May 18, at the Humane Society of Clinton County. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. Pet contests begin at 10:45 a.m. and prizes are given at 11:15 a.m.

 

Frito-Lay’s Tee It Up “Fore” a Cure, the 10th Annual Relay for Life Golf Outing will be held Saturday, May 18, at the Frankfort Commons Golf Course. Cost is $65 per individual and $260 for foursomes. Registration begins at 7:30 p.m. and shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Interested individuals need to sign up by May 13. The Frankfort Optimist Club along with F.U.N. (Frankfort’s Unified Neighborhoods) invites everyone to the Family Fishing Derby at the Frankfort Lagoons on Saturday, May 18. Fishing will be 9 a.m. to noon. Awards will be given for the biggest fish and a free lunch will immediately follow. All ages are welcome and no fishing licenses are required.

 

This Old Farm is hosting an event on Saturday, May 18, to celebrate local farm and artisan partners. Activities begin at 2 p.m. with old fashion lawn games, cash bar and live music followed by keep it local and stay home with Adam, Lucas and Travis at 3 p.m. with a four-course meal with a complimentary drink ticket at 5 p.m. Cost is $60 for adults and $30 for children 12-and-under. Summer Place, a real 50’s town, is having its 17th Annual Car Show on Saturday, May 25. The proceeds benefit “A Home for Every Child Foundation”. Top 20 trophies will be awarded. All car show participants will be entered into a cash drawing and three lucky winners will win $200, $100 and $50. Dash plaques given to the first 200 car entries. The First Annual Touch-A-Truck event will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, at the Frankfort High School parking lot. There will be 15 community vehicles for the entire family to enjoy, explore, climb and learn about the vehicles and personnel that protect, serve and build the community.

 

Registration for the Bales Strong 5K Fun Run is now open. The event, sponsored by the Frankfort Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, will be held Saturday, July 13. Registration starts at 7 a.m, and race begins at 8 a.m. Registration fee is $30. All proceeds for this 5K Fun Run/Walk will be donated to Officer Rob Bales.
