Frankfort Street Department held a community meeting on the new Automation services for trash pick up Tuesday evening at the Frankfort Library
About fifty residents listened to Mayor Sheets open the meeting by explaining the need for safety of Street Department employees. The new automated trash trucks will keep these employees safe. It takes one person to operate the trucks with the use of a joy stick inside.
Mayor Sheets also said the Sanitation Department is totally self funded and the new trucks and totes are no cost to residents and no tax money is being used.
The totes are 96 gallon and one will be given to each resident coded with numbers that coincide with the residents address. One other point Mayor sheets made is that it is very important for people to recycle and sit out for Wednesday’s pick up to keep the amount of trash down so it all fits in everyone’s tote each week.
The totes also are the property of the Frankfort Street Department and will need to be returned if residents move to a different address or close out account.
These totes are designed to help keep the city looking good with lids that need to be closed so trash does not blow all over.
Jason Forsythe says the Sanitation Department employees are elated that they will not be on the back of the trucks anymore. This transition will free up some employees to do other necessary jobs such as alley work and leaf collection to help keep Frankfort looking nice
The new automated Trash service will begin on November 1st. If you have trash totes you no longer want they must be empty and you can put them out Wednesday on recycle day. Make sure it is marked so the department knows it is to be picked up.
