Community Schools of Frankfort Name Former Alum New High School Principal

Jennifer Miller, middle of back row, is the new principal at Frankfort High School. She is a former graduate of FHS.

Cindy Long had been the principal at Frankfort High School since August 2019 before announcing in February that she was leaving at the end of next month to become the Indiana Association of School Principals assistant director and work with lawmakers to be able to impact the laws effect have on public education.

On Tuesday night, the Community Schools of Frankfort announced her replacement with the hiring of former Logansport Principal and Assistant Principal Jennifer Miller.

“She’s coming back home, as she says it, and we’re excited to have a Frankfort alum come back just as Cindy Long was and be the leader of Frankfort High School,” said Community Schools of Frankfort Superintendent Dr. Matt Rhoda. “We can’t be more excited than to have Jen come back with the experiences she’s had.”

The CSF Board also passed the dual credit weighted grading policy on Tuesday,

“It (the dual credit) is very important to us,” said Rhoda. “Across the state, high schools need to be partners with universities for the college core. We’re excited to have a partnership with Ivy Tech, who we’re also partnering with them on the building downtown.”

Back on Halloween night, the press box at the high school football field caught fire and was completely destroyed. Nothing has put up to replace it and Rhoda was asked for an update.

“It’s now down to the city making the approval,” said Rhoda. “The state has released the design. They just did that a couple of weeks ago. Now, the City of Frankfort will be meeting with (CSF Transportation Director) Dave Fouse and (Frankfort High School Athletic Director) Ed Niehaus next week to have kind of a pre-approval meeting. There’s a few things that they want to make sure are in place out there.”

Rhoda added they are expecting steel supports to be in place by May 28.

Speaking of construction work, Rhoda announced that crews have started on the renovation at Frankfort Middle School.

“Right now, the foundation has been poured,” said Rhoda. “You can’t see it because it’s in the back. But the foundation has been poured for the performing arts center. They’ve been working there in the back of the middle school since after spring break.”
