The first day of school got off to a smooth start at all Community Schools of Frankfort schools on Thursday. Students in kindergarten, grades 3, 6, and 9 were welcomed and greeted by their teachers and administrators at the front doors. Orientation activities were planned for students to get to know one another and their teachers and to make students feel at home. All kindergarten through 12th grade students will attend school on Friday.
The start of a new school year also brings the largest ever number of preschool students to Frankfort Schools. On Monday, preschool classes will begin. Frankfort Schools are currently scheduled to serve 136 4-year olds in our preschool programs. There are still a few open spots available for this free preK program. Parents with a four year old should contact Blue Ridge or Suncrest schools to apply for the open preschool seats or call 765-654-5585.
All students will receive lunch and breakfast for free again this year. Parents must still complete an application for free textbooks.
“The Community Schools of Frankfort has hired new teachers this summer who are outstanding additions to our skilled veteran staff,” said Superintendent Joel McKinney. “I am grateful for the support of our community and the involvement of our families that will help to make this another great school year for our students. Great community and great schools. That’s what we are all about.”
