The City of Frankfort and Center Township will have cooling stations open on Friday and Saturday for residents needing to escape the excessive heat.
The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning until 8 p.m. on Sunday. The heat is expected to have an indices reaching 105 to 110 degrees with the hottest conditions expected Friday and Saturday. These conditions can have impacts for individuals who spend time outdoors. We are also asking the public to be mindful of leaving individuals or animals in vehicles with the temperatures being so excessive.
Location of Cool Down Locations: Friday: Old Stoney, 301 E Clinton St, Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Water will be available to the public. Friday: Center Township Office, 6 S. Main St, Open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Water will be available to the public. Friday: Boys and Girls Club, 1100 W Green St, Open 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Location will be open only to youth. The Boys and Girls Club will have free lunch for youth at 11:30 a.m. to noon. Snacks will be made available throughout the day.
Friday and Saturday: YMCA will be open to the public on Friday from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.. No YMCA membership is needed.
