Contract Signed to Pave Colfax Manson and Forest Roads

The Clinton County Commissioners signed a contract Wednesday morning between Clinton County and the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and the agreement on the Community Crossings grant for road paving projects on the Colfax Manson Blacktop and the streets in the town of Forest.

Clinton County Highway Superintendent Kevin Myers said both of these projects will be done this summer.

“We did a drainage project there (in Forest) the last year-and-a-half and tore up a lot of the streets,” said Myers. “Then, they built a new fire station. After all that construction, at least south of Forest Road, those streets are in pretty bad shape. We need to take care of those roads.”

Also at the meeting, Clinton County Commissioners President Josh Uitts announced he has a meeting scheduled on Tuesday, January 8 with JETS Animal Services for the possibility of doing animal control in Clinton County.

“I’ve got a meeting set up with Kim Harris and Jim Tate to listen to their proposal for animal control here in Clinton County,” said Uitts. “Something may have to give here whether it’s a partnership, splitting it and working with the city.”

Uitts said he researched the calls for animal control through Central Dispatch and found that 98 percent of the animal control calls are within the City of Frankfort.

Uitts also added he has a meeting on Friday as part of a group representing Clinton County with the Utility Service Board representatives to discuss getting infrastructure to Interstate 65 from Jefferson.
