Converse Woman Dies in Grant County Crash

At approximately 8:12 a.m. Tuesday, officers from the Indiana State Police and the Grant County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Road 13 at Grant County Road 100 North, which killed a Converse woman.

The preliminary crash investigation by Trooper A.J. Coffee revealed that Ivy R. Curtis, 43, Converse, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Uplander eastbound, on Grant County Road 100 North, approaching a stop sign at the intersection of State Road 13. The Chevrolet failed to stop, for the stop sign, and pulled onto State Road 13, into the path of a southbound 2018 GMC Yukon. The GMC, driven by Tonya L Hedrick, 45, Somerset, hit the Chevrolet in the driver’s side.

Curtis was pronounced dead at the crash scene from injuries sustained in the crash. Two children in Curtis’ vehicle, ages five and 11, were transported via ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Hedrick was also transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

This crash is still under investigation, but at this time neither the use of alcohol nor narcotics is suspected as having contributed to the crash.
