CORE Community Center Receives $1,300 Grant from Tipmont REMC

CORE Community Center is truly blessed to share that Tipmont REMC has given $1333 toward new park benches outside their building, in honor of a local community member.

Tipmont REMC’s Operation Round Up program (https://tipmont.com/community/operation-round-up/) is funded through the “rounding up” of electric customer’s bills to the nearest whole dollar each month. These funds are then used to fund special projects in its service areas. CORE applied for this grant to specifically focus on replacing the weathered park benches outside of the front doors of the building, where children and families regularly wait for bus pickups, rides, and enjoy the outdoors.

“These benches are something we are known for,” Executive Director Stephanie Cooper shared. “Our existing benches, although painted freshly this past spring, were starting to show age and we were beginning to face the fact that they would need to be replaced. A local community member approached us about this program, and we were thrilled to receive the notice this past week.”

CORE will be purchasing and installing brand new weatherproof benches to the exterior and installing plaques dedicating them to important people within the CORE community. There will be a celebration in the coming months.
