Cross Country Season Ends for Locals at Semi State Event

The season came to an end for all boys’ and girls’ cross country runners and teams Saturday at the Indiana High School Athletic Association Semi State event at New Prairie Saturday. The top six teams plus the top 10 individuals of non-qualifying teams now move on to the state meet next Saturday in Terre Haute.

In order to qualify as an individual, the boys had to finish in the top 18, while the girls was the top 14.

Frankfort had five runners — three boys and two girls — compete in the meet. Sophomore Daniel Pritchett led FHS with a time of 17:57.3, which placed him 116th in the field. Junior Carina Alanis led the FHS girls with a time of 20:37.9 which placed her 62nd.

Rossville junior Preston Padgett just missed qualifying as an individual as he finished 20th in 16:38.5.

State Qualifying Teams — Chesterton 92, Warsaw Community 118, Crown Point 119, Lake Central 165, Western 178, Munster 222 (Rossville was 19th with 413, Frankfort, NTS, Clinton Prairie NTS).

Individual Winner — Lucas Guerra (Highland) 15:26.7.
