Crossing School Holds First Annual Banquet

The Crossing School in Frankfort started in 2009.  The first annual Frankfort Crossing School banquet was held Tuesday night at the Edward Jones Community Building at the Fairgrounds.   Crossing Board President Susan Kaspar welcomed the gathering and reminded 20 of the 100 Crossing Students they were not alone in their journey.

The Crossing School in Frankfort started a decade ago during a conversation when Eric Spencer questioned the status quo for students who were rejecting the traditional education and traditional school experience at their own peril. This rejection of traditional education carried with it disastrous consequences on former student’s potential and future livelihood, probable success and happiness.

State-wide Crossing School Founder Rob Staley spoke at the banquet of the early beginnings of the Crossing movement in Indiana before Frankfort joined forces with the Crossing Concept in 2009.

Campus Director Marissa Mills shared the perspective, passion and progress that is a part of each day at the Crossing. She spoke of the dedicated teaching team and necessary fabric at the school that makes each day closer to a successful completion for each student.

Crossing Board member Shan Sheridan was the Master of Ceremonies  and wove together the stories of redemption and encouragement from participants behind the lectern.  Crossing Graduate and current Crossing Administrative Assistant  Olivia Taylor told her gripping story of a decisively important night years ago when a radio thrown across a room started to play the popular Gospel Hymn “His Eye is on the Sparrow” by lyricist Civilla Martin and composer Charles Gabriel in 1905.  This song on the radio saved Taylor’s life and she sang the song a cappella to a standing ovation at the banquet.

Angry Donkey served at the event, including the famous bread pudding for dessert.

Crossing board member and MC Shan Sheridan addressed the first Annual Crossing Banquet Fundraiser.
State-wide founder of the Crossing Concept Rob Staley shows Indiana Campus locations for the Crossing and described the Crossing’s humble beginnings years ago.
