Gene passed away November 22, 2020 in Cave City, Ky. He was 84 years old. He was the son of Hobert & Bessie Hankins. He married Marilyn R (Greeno); she preceded him in death, and they had one son, Phil (Shelley) Hankins of Colfax, Indiana. Grandchildren are Pierce (Shaelyn +1), Spencer (Kourtney, Bryleigh, Benson +1), and Anna Hankins, all of Frankfort.
He was blessed with a second love, Dorthy Hankins, Cave City, Ky. Step-children, Patty Gosser (Phillip) of Glasgow, Ky, Teresa Trivett (Ronnie) of Ft. Run, Ky, Dwayne Hale (Rita) of Whitehouse Tn, and Micheal Hale of Louisville, Ky. 10 step grandchildren and one step great grandchild.
He leaves behind a twin sister, Imogene Klaber, Cave City, Ky. Brother, Jerry (Glenda) Hankins of Morgantown, Ky.
Preceding him in death were brothers, Jim Hankins, Max Hankins, Dale and Bobby Hankins. Sisters, Mary Sue Palmore, Betty Jo Findley, Evelyn Hankins.
Gene worked as a brakeman for the Nickel Plate/N&W Railroad for 28 years. His hobbies were refinishing tractors, woodworking, enjoying his immaculate yard, and regularly attending Siglers restaurant in Mechanicsburg.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on November 27, 2020 at A.F. Crow, 201 East Washington St., Glasgow, Ky.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on November 30, 2020 at Plainview Cemetery, Colfax, Indiana.
In adherence to the current CDC guidelines, it is requested that guests follow the appropriate social distancing and the wearing of masks.
