Purdue University President Mitch Daniels says a more than $1 billion live, work, play development on the West Lafayette campus will be a magnet for attracting and keeping top talent in the region. The Discovery Park District is part of a 30-year vision to transform the west side of the Purdue campus and create a “preeminent environment” for educational, economic, cultural and community activities in the region. “We need that to attract the best students, the best faculty and I think our partnership with the city of West Lafayette, we don’t think there’s another one like it in the country,” said Daniels. “We think we’re going to create the next great Hoosier community… and we think the sky’s the limit.”
In an interview this weekend on a special edition of Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick, Daniels talked about his vision for the school and the region.

The vision for the Discovery Park District, which was first made public in April, is beginning to take shape. Daniels said a breakthrough moment came in September, when ground was broken for an electric power research facility for Washington-based Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, which is expected to employ up to 300.
In April, Rolls-Royce and Purdue announced plans for a research and development facility in the nearly 1,000 acre Purdue Research Park Aerospace District.
