David Matthews Walker, 58, of Lafayette, formerly of Bloomington, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at his home in Lafayette. He was born in Bloomington, on October 3, 1962, to Carl Robert and Beverly Ann (Carpenter) Walker. He married Donna Jayne Mockerman on September 19, 1987, in Bloomington, IN; she survives.
David graduated from Bloomington North High School in 1981 then received an associates degree from Vincennes University in building and trades. He was a salesman for carpet, flooring, laminate, and hardwood flooring for the past 34 years. He played on the Alcoa golf league, loved baseball, was a big IU fan, was a diehard Bobby Knight and Dale Earnhardt fan, and really enjoyed cooking. David was a family man and an excellent provider.
Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 34 years, Donna of Lafayette; daughters, Whitney Jayne Walker and Ashley Elizabeth Walker; son, Matthew James (Courtney Foster) Walker all of Lafayette; brother, John Frederick (Cindy) Walker of Ellettsville; sisters, Beverly Walker-McClure of Bloomington and Jennifer (Roy) Matthews of Tennessee; grandson, Kaison James Walker; and several nieces, nephews, cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 20, 2021, at Genda Funeral Home~Mulberry Chapel. Pastor Kevin Smith will officiate.
