David S. Young, 74, of Michigantown, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021, at his home. He was born February 25, 1947 in Frankfort to Scott and Hazel (Reed) Young. He married Connie Thompson on July 1, 1983; she preceded him in death on November 9, 2012.
David graduated from Frankfort Senior High School in 1965 and then attended Ball State University. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1966 and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant E5 in 1970. David then became a police officer and master trooper and worked for the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office from 1974-1978 and the Indiana State Police Department from 1978-1999. He was the owner of Dave’s Guns from 1992-2000.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police, a former member of the Moose and Elks, and attended Liberty Baptist Church. His interests included riding his motorcycle and shooting.
David is survived by his sons, Todd Young of Lebanon, Chad Douglas of Louisville, KY, Chip (Cindy) Douglas of rural Frankfort, and Craig (Amanda) Douglas of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Dylan, Logan, Reid, Cali, and Keeleigh; niece and nephews, Nick, Missy, Andy and Nate; four great nephews, and three great nieces.
In addition to his wife, Connie, he is preceded in death by his parents and, sisters, Sandra and Lois.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Green Lawn Cemetery. Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort is entrusted with the arrangements.
