Delores Jane Torrence, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018, at her home. She was born June 20, 1937, in Cass County, to George W. and Dorothy M. (Sheets) Grantham. On July 11, 1959, Delores married Buddy John Torrence; he preceded her in death on May 21, 1984.
In 1955, Delores graduated from Logansport High School and then continued her education at South Bend Memorial School of Nursing before graduating in 1958. Delores moved to Frankfort in 1963 where she worked as a registered nurse for Dr. Stout and later Milner Community Healthcare while raising her children. In 2009, she moved to Indianapolis. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and past member of the Christian Missionary Alliance in Logansport. Delores enjoyed crocheting, reading, bird watching, playing cards, and being with her dogs.
Surviving are her children, Deanna (Kip) Sloan, of Rossville, and Susan Estes and Tonya Torrence, both of Indianapolis; brother, Darrell (Ellen) Grantham, of Kokomo; sister, Carolyn King, of Kokomo; 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Delores is preceded in death by her parents and her sons, Brian and Stephen.
Visitation will be held 5-8pm, Friday, October 12, 2018 at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel. Funeral service will begin at 11am on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Morning Heights Cemetery in Delphi. Memorials in Delores’ name may be made to Milner Community Healthcare or Clinton County Humane Society.
