Delores June “Lori” Overman

Delores June “Lori” Overman, 74, formerly Lori Blaydes, and Lori Burns, of Mulberry, passed away unexpectedly at her home, Monday, July 10, 2023.  She was born October 6, 1948, in Ozark, AL to Elmo and Corene (Baldwin) Purcell.  She married Tim Overman, August 20, 2022.  He survives.

June was a graduate of Bainbridge High School in 1966.  She then attended Indiana State University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1970. She later received her master’s degree from IUPUI.  She was a dedicated elementary school teacher in Delphi in 1970, and then taught in the Clinton Prairie School District until her retirement in 2002.  After her retirement she continued as a substitute teacher in Lebanon.  She was a devoted Christian who attended Colfax Manson Church, and then Lebanon First Church of the Nazarene, where she helped teach Sunday School. She enjoyed volunteering at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon.  She was an avid reader, wrote poetry and music, and was a history buff, especially Indiana history.  She loved her family and spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Along with her husband, June is survived by her children, Amy (Ron) Wilson and Becky (Randie) Dial; step-son, Charles Overman; sister, Chyril Hoke; grandchildren, Carter Dial, Cayleigh Dial, Cora Dial, Broden Wilson, and Gage Wilson; and several cousins and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Bobby Purcell, Kathy Houser.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 1pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort.  Paster Craig Overman will officiate.  Burial will take place at 3:30pm at Bainbridge Cemetery in Bainbridge.  Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
