Delphi community members gathered to celebrate alongside Hammons Development, who will begin construction of the duplex in the near future after hosting its grandbreaking for the development. According to city officials, housing and development has been a key focus of the economic development leaders in the city, and the new duplex aligns with the city’s initiative.

The Hammons were former owners of the McDonald’s franchise in the Delphi area and have been driving forces in the investment of funds, infrastructure and more in Delphi. According to officials, Delphi is considered an Opportunity Zone, and investing within an Opportunity Zone provides the investors with tax advantages to those investing from certain asset sales.

The duplex project will be headed by Brad Harper of Harper Construction, and Harper boasts more than 25 years of expertise in the trades. Harper began his business eight years ago alongside his brother, Eric Harper, and his son, Gage Harper, who appeared at the groundbreaking celebration.

The duplex is expected to be an “attractive duplex” at 1011 S. Washington St. in Delphi.

Alongside the Harper family, Delphi leaders attended the groundbreaking in support of the project, including JT Doane, Community Development Director, and Mayor Anita Werling.
