Delphi Defeats Clinton Prairie in Game of the Week

The Delphi Oracles baseball team defeated the Clinton Prairie Gophers 5-2 in Tuesday night’s Hoosierland TV Game of the Week.

Keygan Elliott threw a complete game, notching eight strikeouts. He added two hits, a walk and two RBIs in the win, earning himself The Farmers Bank Player of the Game.

It was the Gophers who struck first, as Gaige Kuzmicz singled to bring in Luke Harshbarger.

Delphi struck in the top of the third, scoring three runs. Elliott delivered a two-out hit to score two runs and give Delphi the lead.

Clinton Prairie added a run in the bottom of the third as Alex King singled to score Kye Jacobs.

Both pitchers held serve in the fourth and fifth innings before Mason Smith added some insurance for Delphi. Smith snuck a single into left, scoring two to give Delphi a 5-2 lead.

Elliott closed the door the rest of the way, keeping the Gophers off the bases in the final two frames.

The Oracles improved to 10-3 with the win and remain undefeated in Hoosier Heartland conference play.

Clinton Prairie drops to 10-3 with the loss, snapping a four-game win streak.
