Delphi Issues Reminder, Warning For Residents To Follow Trash Ordinance

The City of Delphi released a reminder for residents regarding the presence of trash receptacles located at the curb in the right of way, urging residents to follow the ordinance that requires trash receptacles to be relocated back to the residence after pickup.

The City released a statement that it has received numerous complaints regarding neighboring properties that are not retrieving their trash containers after the scheduled pickup by the trash crew. The city stated that multiple efforts have been taken to remedy the situation, such as speaking with and educating citizens of the ordinance without issuing citations and posting a reminder o social media on Feb. 28 this year with further information.

”The City of Delphi would like to thank the property owners that comply with this ordinance on a weekly basis as we continue our efforts keeping Delphi beautiful,” the City released.

Due to the weekly complaints that have been filed, the city announced that citations will now be issued to property owners not in compliance with the ordinance that states that trash containers must be returned to the property and cannot remain on the city right of way.

According to the ordinance, all trash containers must be brought inside or up to the residence no more than 24 hours after the scheduled pickup time, and failure to follow the guidelines set forth by the ordinance will result in a $20 citation for every offense.
