Delphi Police Department Warns Of Impersonation Scam

The Delphi Police Department has issued a warning for community members to remain vigilant as additional scams have been reported of callers claiming to be a Delphi Police Department officer.

According to the Delphi Police Department, the scam has culminated in the callers asking the recipient if they would transfer money or purchase gift cards and provide the information on the card to the caller to excuse an infraction or participate in an event.

“DPD Officers will never call you and ask you for money or gift cards,” the department released. “If someone contacts you and claims to represent DPD, ask to meet them at the City of Delphi, Indiana building in person.”

The department encouraged community members who may have family members or friends who may be vulnerable and may not have access to social media or news websites to inform their loved ones to ensure that they do not fall victim to the scam.
