Delphi Public Library Releases 2025-2029 Strategic Plan

The Delphi Public Library has released its strategic plan for 2025 following the approval of the library board on Jan. 20 that details numerous assessments of the population it serves, demographic breakdowns, needs that are present in the population and service responses that are expected to develop this year to best serve the population.

The first service response identified was establishing safe and welcoming physical places to meet and interact with others or to sit quietly and read, and the library is further hosting open and accessible virtual spaces that support networking. The library is hoping to increase the year-end visitor count, increase the number of meeting room reservations and increase public engagement on the library’s website and social media by 5% by 2030 by offering the physical and virtual spaces.

The second service response is to stimulate imagination by providing materials to the community for those who want to enhance their leisure time with reading, viewing and listening opportunities in literature. The library hopes to increase the library-wide physical and digital circulations by 5% each by 2030 by ensuring that library visitors find materials of interest in print and digital formats.

The third service response is to help community members make informed decisions in relation to health, wealth and other life choices by identifying and analyzing risks, benefits and alternatives before making decisions. The library strives to host relevant guest speakers on topics related to health, financial wellness, education and similar education needs at least twice a year and provide collections with annual updates to resources relating to the topics.

The fourth service response is to satisfy curiosity by providing the resources needed to explore topics of personal interest and help community members continue to learn throughout their lives. The library plans for each department to plan and implement workshops of patron interest at least once a month and increase promotion of at least one monthly post on all platforms for digital learning resources that are available to continue bringing learning opportunities for all ages to the forefront.

The fifth service response related to establishing a central source for information about the wide variety of programs, services and activities provided by community agencies and organizations. The library aspires to have staff complete annual training to learn about community resources and best practices for information patrons as well as develop reference information about available resources, including organizations, materials and contacts.

The sixth service response revolves around business and nonprofit support where the library will promote business resources at least twice a year on its social media and website pages as well as continue to update its relevant print and digital materials pertaining to business and nonprofits on an annual basis to further provide resources, information and meeting space to support resident entrepreneurs.
