Derek E. Spence, 34, of Lafayette, passed away unexpectedly early in the morning of Friday, August 3rd. He was born June 4, 1984, in Lafayette. He graduated from McCutcheon High School in 2002.
Derek loved hard and felt deeply. Those that knew Derek knew of his shortcomings. However, through them, he was still an amazing son, brother, uncle, friend, but most importantly he was a doting, proud father. The one thing that mattered most to him in the world was his son. Derek cherished time with his son. His favorite things to do always involved his family. He was funny, caring, genuine, and he really loved chocolate milk.
He leaves behind his son, Brayden Spence; mother, Vicki Enoch (spouse: Greg); father, Donald Spence; sister, Breanne Musgrave (spouse: Jeff); brother, Brady Spence (spouse: Tabitha); sister, Carmen Spence; step-sister, Trisha Skillman (spouse: Brian); step-brother, Joel Enoch (spouse: Meagan); five nephews, and one niece.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at Eagles Lodge #347, 3208 S 18th St, Lafayette, IN 47909, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Derek’s honor may be made to his son, Brayden.
