Donald Lewis “Don” Sedwick, 92, of Frankfort, passed away December 12, 2022, at IU Health West Hospital in Avon, Indiana.
Born in Tipton County on August 6, 1930, Don was the son of William I. and Lovica Laverne (Eubank) Sedwick. He was a graduate of Sugar Creek High School. On March 28, 1954, he married Julia Ann “Judy” Lucas at Woodside Christian Church, and she preceded him in death on October 12, 2022.
During their 68 years of marriage, Don and Judy resided in San Diego, Anderson, Alexandria, and on Lake Freeman before returning to Frankfort. He served in the US Navy with the Submarine Squadron from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict. Don worked for Delco Remy in Anderson for 40 years before retiring in 1990.
Don was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church and Alexandria Masonic Lodge #235, where he was a 50+ member, received a 50-year Past Master Award, served as Past Master in 1963, Past High Priest of Alexandria Chapter #99, and Illustrious Master of Alexandria Council #85. He was a member of Anderson Commandery #32, Treasurer and Advisor of Alexandria Order of the DeMolay, a member of the Lions Club since 1983 holding all offices in Frankfort, Monticello and Alexandria, member of the American Legion Post since 1972, and in 2015, Don was able to go on the Veteran’s Honor Flight to Washington, DC.
Don is survived by his children, Elaine (Eric) Bowen of Colfax and Jane (Greg) Williams of Frankfort; three grandchildren, Jill (Chris) Butler, Craig Bowen, and Katie Williams; sisters, Mary Lou Schuyler of Lapel, Frieda Faucett of Lebanon, and Barbara Kincaid of Danville, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Betty Sedwick of Burlington and Wilma Sedwick of Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his parents; and five brothers, James, Floyd, Leon, Larry, and Robert Sedwick.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until the beginning of the service at 1:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort.
