Doris (McKinney) MacLachlan passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021 in her home at Chapman Place in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 100.
Doris was born on a farm in Comstock, Nebraska on July 7, 1920. She spent the majority of her youth in Kansas before moving to Trenton, New Jersey. She graduated from high school then earned a degree from Trenton State Teachers College in 1941. Doris married Robert MacLachlan on June 17, 1944 and was married for 57 years; he passed away on March 3, 2002. She was an active member of the Pennington United Methodist Church, in New Jersey, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and served as the church librarian for 17 years. In 1991, the MacLachlan’s moved to Wesley Manor in Frankfort, Indiana where she was a member of St Matthew United Methodist Church. Doris was a volunteer tutor for the Frankfort Schools and a volunteer at the Frankfort Community Public Library.
Doris had long-lasting friendships all over the country and was known for her sense of humor. She faithfully loved the prairie (windmills, sunflowers, and meadowlarks) and always enjoyed a snowy day.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Linda (Doug) Shuherk of New Haven, IN; son Don (Susan) MacLachlan, Eagle, CO; grandchildren, Nathan, Laura, Ryan, Garrett, and Drew; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Robert and her sister, Eleanor.
