Officials will be looking into the cause of Tuesday’s huge fire in downtown Frankfort that destroyed at least two buildings and injured a firefighter. Frankfort Fire Chief John Kirby says flames were visible when they arrived on the scene. Kirby says at that point it was a “defensive” attack as the flames spread to the building next door which housed the Frankfort Sports Club and some apartments upstairs where everyone was evacuated.

One firefighter, Greg Miller was taken to a Lafayette Hospital after falling through a second story floor and was also treated for smoke inhalation. Reports say he will be OK. Extensive damage was also done to one of the Murals at Veterans Park. The Lebanon Fire Department was called to help give the firefighters backup.
