Dr. Edward J. Northrop

Dr. Edward J. Northrop, 71, of Mulberry, died February 5, 2021 at his home following a long-term illness.  He was born February 3, 1950 in Clinton County, Ind. to George & Lillian (Schimmel) Northrop.  He married Susan C. Schroeder in Evansville, Ind. on May 12, 1990 and she survives.

Dr.  Northrop was a 1968 graduate of Clinton Central High School, a 1972 graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Animal Science and a 1975 graduate of Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine.  He was owner/operator of Northrop Veterinary Clinic for 45 years.  He was an expert green bean grower, an avid woodworker, was a former Troop 336 Boy Scout Leader & Master; he was a sponsor of Greater Lafayette Soccer Teams and was involved in equine management & horse breeding.  For many years, he visited St. Matthews Preschool to explain veterinary medicine to attending youth and was a mentor of future veterinarians. Ed was an all-star husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Susan C. Northrop of Mulberry, 2 sons, Zach Northrop (Natalie Bailey Northrop) of Indianapolis, Larry Dale ‘Bucky’ Cory of Englewood, FL, daughter, Helen Northrop Vasluianu (Madalin Mihail Vasluianu) of Mulberry, 2 sisters, Kathryn Owen of Plainfield and Karen Clymer of West Lafayette, 3 grandchildren, Cierra, Kyra, Breanna Cory and a 4th expected in September.

Funeral Service:

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2021 and 10-11 a.m. Saturday, February 13th at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort.  The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, c/o Donation Processing, P.O.
