INDOT drivers spent time pre-treating interstates, U.S. highways, and state roads in advance of winter weather expected to impact the region beginning tonight through tomorrow morning’s commute.
A winter weather advisory will be in effect tonight through tomorrow morning for parts of Indiana. Snow will arrive mid-evening in the south and transition to freezing rain and rain from south to north early tomorrow morning. Light icing is possible along with total snow amounts of around an inch in the south and up to of 3 inches in the north.
INDOT will have a full call out of nearly 120 drivers in West Central Indiana beginning at 10 p.m. Drivers will be treating routes and plowing as needed until conditions improve. Motorists should should give INDOT yellow trucks plenty of room.
Travel may be difficult late tonight through the morning commute, with conditions improving by late morning as temperatures warm. Motorists traveling late tonight or Wednesday morning should slow down and allow extra time to reach their destinations.
