E. Ray Justice

E. Ray Justice, 81, of Frankfort, passed away April 26, 2023 in his home surrounded by family. He was born on December 31, 1941 in Dock, Kentucky to Joe and Anna (Johnson) Justice. He married Sharon Burton on August 31, 1962 in Wabash, Indiana and they have enjoyed over 60 years of marriage.

Ray attended Laketon High School.  He worked for Eaton Controls in North Manchester and Grote in Madison IN.  He moved to Frankfort in 1987 where he worked as Engineer for Emerson Controls, formerly known as Mallorys, retiring on January 9, 2009 after 22 years of service.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 976 and the Lafayette Sailing Club.  Ray was a man of many talents and interests.  He had his private pilot’s license and had belonged to the Mentone Flying Club and Clifty Flying Club.  “Star Gazer” was his MacGregor 25 sailboat and if you ventured onto the boat he most definitely would teach you to sail.  For 43 years he had credentials to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and had a great time taking photos and meeting all the people there.  He had said NASCAR would be racing there before there was any talk of it.  In 1993 he entered the Winston Cup NASCAR contest and won a new Pontiac Grand Am and 4 leather racing jackets.  He was a longtime fan of the Rams, Colts, and Pacers.  He had an analytical mind and could look at a problem and figure out how to correct it which was a great help in his work.  Chess was a game he loved and thought everyone should learn to play.  In the fall, he liked to take his wife and dog to see the sandhill cranes in Puloski County.  He also liked going to the Downtown Diner and seeing everyone.  Ray enjoyed life and thought you could do anything if you put your mind to it.

Surviving along with his wife: Sharon are his Daughter: Tammy (Jerry) Carpenter of Frankfort; Granddaughter: Jennifer Riccius of Indianapolis; Great-Granddaughter: Lola Jones of Indianapolis; Sisters: Polly Cantrell, Peggy Orr, Betty (Ken) McKillip all of Wabash, and Mary (Jim) Frasure of North Manchester; Brothers: James (Debbie) Justice of Lagro and Robert Justice of Ft. Wayne; and his Brother-in-law: David Kessinger of Marion.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Bill Justice, John Justice, his sister: Pearl Kessinger, and his beloved dog: Rusty.
